Input finance and intensive agricultural extension support

The Kenya Kwanza Government promised to transform two (2) million poor farmers from food deficit to surplus producers through input finance and intensive agricultural extension support, with a target to generate a minimum productivity target of Sh50,000 revenue an acre.

• The Agricultural and Livestock Extension Services Bill (Senate Bills No. 12 of 2022) was tabled before the Senate in December 2022, passed by Senate in February 2024 and referred for consideration by the National Assembly on 27th February 2025. The Bill, which proposes to establish the Agricultural and Livestock Extension Service is currently at the Committee Stage at the National Assembly.
• The Kenya Kwanza Government also increased the funding allocated to the Agricultural industry to 77.7 Billion in 2025, a 3.8 Billion increase from the previous fiscal year sustainably support agri-food systems in the country.
