Kenya Kwanza promised to pass a creative economy bill that will enable the establishment of a film fund. Part of the mandate of the fund will be to facilitate access to modern equipment and entire film production infrastructure available for local filmmakers on hire and lease basis.
August 6th 2024: The Creative Economy Support Bill (Senate Bills No. 30 Of 2024) was read a first time in the Senate on 6th August 2024. The Bill seeks to establish mechanisms for the support of the persons in the creative industry; to enhance the contribution of creative industry to the economy; to establish the Creative’s fund; and for connected purposes. The Bill has undergone public participation pending second reading and subsequent stages before assent.
