The Kenya Kwanza housing commitment is to turn the housing challenge into an economic opportunity by growing number of mortgages from 30,000 to 1,000,000 by enabling low cost mortgages of Sh10,000 and below possible. This had led to the tabling of the Affordable Housing Bill 2023 as an attempt to help the government to pool the resources required to execute the housing challenge.

May, 29th 2024: The National Housing Corporation in its 2023- 2027 strategic plan has explained how it plans to deliver at least 110,000 Affordable Housing Units. The corporation explained that the construction of the units is in line with the government’s plan to have mortgages that cost Ksh10,000 below quantified in terms of monthly payments.
