The Kenya Kwanza manifesto included a promise to support scaling up of clean cooking technologies.
a) However, on the 3rd of July 2023, the President lifted the moratorium on logging that had been put in place for six years. Lifting this moratorium contradicts the President’s promise to support the scaling up of clean cooking technologies.
b) 24th October 2024: To help the government achieve universal clean cooking, the State Department for Energy has launched The Kenya National Cooking Transition Strategy (2024), the Kenya National Electric Cooking Strategy (2024) and the Knowledge Management Strategy in Kajiado during the 5th edition of the clean cooking week 2024 expo.
