Decentralization of Services and Functions of Kenyan Missions Abroad

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to improve the delivery of government services through decentralizing services and functions of Kenyan missions abroad.

• The President issued an Executive Order No. 1 of 2023 that stipulates the establishment of seven new missions that will be based in Djibouti, Bern, Arusha, Goma, Jakarta and Hargeisa (Somaliland).
• The implementation of the Executive order is still developing, but challenges have stalled the opening of new missions in some areas.
