Reduce the price of maize flour (Unga)

The Kenya Kwanza government pledged to reduce the price of maize flour to KSh 100 per 2kg packet from KSh 200.

• The President requested additional time beyond the first 100 days to fulfil this promise. As of November 2023, in his State of the Nation address, the President announced a significant reduction in unga prices to a low of KSh. 145.
• The price of maize flour has, however, been fluctuating over the years, with the government unable to maintain low prices for an extended period.
