The Kenya Kwanza government vowed to provide political will and bring about reforms in the security sector.
As of January 2024, a couple of reforms to the security sector have been made. These include: merging of the Kenya Police and the Administration Police to create a unified National Police Service (NPS), granting financial independence to the police service, which ensures the operational autonomy of the police service and reduces the potential for political interference in law enforcement activities.
