Give option for officers to serve in their home counties in latter years

The Kenya Kwanza government made a promise to give lower cadre officers (sergeant and below) the option of serving in their home counties from the age of 50 (or where they chose to retire).

• In 2024, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, publicly said police officers who are nearing retirement will be posted to the counties where they want to retire, or home counties, so they can familiarize themselves with those communities. This statement, however, has not been backed by policies or any binding regulatory changes.
