Nyayo Stadium attendees get free University courses

On 11th December 2022, President William Ruto promised that every citizen who attended the Jamhuri Day celebration at Nyayo Stadium would receive a free paid course from Arizona University.

 

 

 

  • On 9th December 2023, President William Ruto awarded graduates who successfully completed the Global Entrepreneurship & Innovation Bootcamp. It is however important to clarify that the courses were offered by the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

On 2nd March 2023, the President of Kenya promised that from June 2023, a 6 kg cylinder of cooking gas will cost KES 500 or KES 300.

 

 

 

 

  • There is no public record showing a reduction of cooking gas prices to the above pledged amount.

On 4th April 2023, the President of Kenya promised that the government would start disbursing Inua Jamii social protection funds.

 

 

 

  • On 2nd January 2024, the government released ksh.2 billion Inua Jamii Cash to over one million beneficiaries.

Government pledges to revive textile industry

On 16th May 2023, the President of Kenya promised to revive the country’s textile industry by scaling up cotton production.

 

 

 

 

  • In 2025, the government through the State department of Industry in collaboration with Crop Development, distributed 8.5 tons of biotech (Bt) and Open-Pollinated Variety (OPV) seeds to farmers to farmers across the country to boost productivity. The government has also since developed the National Cotton Textile and Apparel Policy, though it is yet to be approved.

Government Launches Hospitals in Muranga

On 19th May 2023, the President of Kenya pledged ksh 300 million to fast-track the construction and upgrading of two hospitals in Murang’a County.

 

 

 

 

  • On 3rd December 2023, Muranga county government launched new general wards at the Maragua and Kandara level 4 hospitals. There is however no official document showing a connection between the two. While appearing before the National Assembly’s Health Committee, PS Kimtai asked MPs to factor in a budget of around 1 billion to implement President Ruto’s directives on health projects. However, out of the amount, 700 million had been earmarked to fund three projects in Uasin Gishu county while the rest of the amount was to fund health projects in eight counties in the arid and semi-arid areas. There is was no mention of Murang’a County.

Expansion of the School Feeding Program

On 20th July, 2023, the President of Kenya promised that the government will increase the number of children benefiting from the School Feeding Program from 1.6 million to 4 million.

 

 

 

 

  • The government reports a 15.15% increase in the number of learners benefiting from the school feeding program from 2,257,963 in 2022 to 2,600,000 in 2025. It is important to note that the number of children benefiting from the School Feeding Program was not 1.6 million as was initially announced by the President.

7,000 title deeds to Residents of Isiolo County

On 20th July 2023, President William Ruto promised to issue 7,000 title deeds to Isiolo residents before December 2023, to resolve land disputes and foster development in the region. He said this after issuing 1086 titles on that day.

 

 

 

 

  • In April 2025, Governor Abdi Guyo issued 1191 allotment letters to residents of Isiolo County.

Employment of 20,000 interns every year

On 1st August 2023, President William Ruto promised that the government would hire 20,000 interns every year.

 

 

 

  • President William Ruto directed the public service commission to increase the number of interns recruited under the public service internship programme to 20,000 for the next cohort.
  • In July 2025, the Public Service Commission announced the recruitment of interns under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the 2025/2026 Financial Year. The internship, however, is not a guarantee of employment and cannot be renewed.

Full university scholarships

On 22nd July 2023, the President of Kenya promised one hundred per cent scholarships to university students.

 

 

 

  • On July 31, 2023, the government launched the Student-Centred Funding Model.
  • This model drew a lot of criticism, including that many of its aspects were not working. Parents and students alike facing difficulties is navigating it. It was seen as a departure to what was promised.

  • There is no public record showing how the President of Kenya has dealt with corruption. In contrast, numerous reports indicate a surge in corruption scandals in the country.
