National annual sports extravaganza

  • Promote county leagues and inter-county sports championships that will culminate into a national annual sports extravaganza.
  • The Kenya youth inter-county sports event already took place in Tharaka Nithi County, from 23rd to 30th April, launched by CS Ababu Namwamba.
  • CS Namwamba also officially flagged off the Talanta Hela Initiative in December 2023, aiming to turn talent into a thriving industry in Sports and Creative Spaces

National Youth Talent Academy

  • Expand the National Youth Talent Academy (NYTA) to include all sports and simultaneously devolve it to the county level and introduce County Sports Talent Academy with the capacity to systematically identify promising sporting talent and provide necessary support through sponsorship to further their skills/talent.

  • Consider the setting up of a national lottery, tax incentives for corporate sponsorship, a dedicated or ring-fenced tax, and a public-private partnership framework for infrastructure.
  • The National Lottery was set up to shore up funding to sports, culture and arts.

Return Kenya to International Football

  •  Return Kenya to international football.

September 2023: Kenya, together with Uganda and Tanzania, successfully secured the bid to host the prestigious 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The hosts, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania would automatically qualify for the 2027 edition of AFCON.

High level expert taskforce

  • Establish a high-level expert task force to identify sustainable sources of sports funding.

February 2023: The President appoints task force on the establishment of a National Lottery which would provide an alternative source of sports funding.
