5% of AGPO to be reserved for PWDs

Kenya Kwanza promised that 5 per cent of Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) will be reserved for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), with an increase in LPO financing.

While there haven’t been any legislative enactments to actualize this promise, AGPO statistics demonstrate that the AGPO program has experienced significant growth. in the financial year 2024/25, AGPO awards climbed to KES. 56.82 Billion compared to 51.18 Billion in 2023/24 and 25.86 Billion in 2022/23. With respect to LPO financing, in 2023 and 2024, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities reports that 119 businesses owned by Persons with Disabilities were awarded tenders worth a tune of KShs. 500,000 each.
