Free diapers for new mothers under expanded SHA

In August 2026 at the 2026 Health Summit, Ruto promised that by the end of his first term, every new mother would receive diapers upon leaving the hospital, initially framed as a three‑month supply under an enhanced SHA cover. The benefit would form part of the support provided to mothers giving birth in healthcare facilities covered by the government.

  • The president set a target of 30th October 2026 as the goal to finish the updated SHA review, which would include the aforementioned diaper benefit.
