Harambee Stars will receive Sh600M for qualifying to CHAN finals plus Sh1M per win

President Ruto promised on 30 July 2025 to give Harambee Stars players Sh600 million if they qualify for the 2024 CHAN final, along with Sh1 million per player for every game won. The financial incentive was aimed at motivating the national football team during the competition.

  • President William Ruto promised Harambee Stars money for their CHAN campaign, including bonuses for winning matches and progressing in the tournament. He announced that each player and technical staff member would receive KSh 1 million for every win and KSh 500,000 for every draw. He also pledged KSh 60 million if the team reached the quarter-finals, KSh 70 million for the semi-finals, and KSh 600 million if they won the tournament.
  • After Harambee Stars defeated DR Congo 1–0 in their opening CHAN match, reports stated that the government disbursed KSh 42 million to the players and technical bench as promised bonuses.
  • Harambee Stars fell out earlier in the knockout rounds therefore they did not qualify to the finals.
