Setting up infrastructure fund for dams, roads and electricity

On 4 October 2025, President William Ruto announced plans to set up an infrastructure fund to help build dams, roads, and electricity infrastructure across Kenya.

 

 

  • The fund is intended to provide a dedicated financing mechanism for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • On 9th March 2026, President William Ruto signed the National Infrastructure Fund Bill into law on 9 March 2026, formally establishing the fund designed to mobilise over KSh 5 trillion in the next 10 years for large-scale infrastructure development projects.
  • Further President William Ruto has called on the international community to invest in Kenya’s ambitious KSh5 trillion, 10-year national transformation programme. The President appealed to international development finance institutions, investors, pension funds, and the private sector to consider investing in the National Infrastructure Fund.
