110,000 Kenyans to join Climate WorX program from July 1

President Ruto announced on 18 June 2025 that from July 1, 110,000 Kenyans will join the Climate WorX program.

  • This was a reiteration of a promise made earlier, with a specific start date. The Climate WorX program is a government initiative to provide youth with employment in climate-related projects.
  • In July 2025, the government inducted 25,000 new youth workers into the Climate Worx Programme after tensions had risen among the youth over delay in Climate WorX job promises.
  • According to the government, the program iniitially targeted the employment of 20,000 youths every month. However, the number of youths increased to 39,433 monthly, from July 21, 2025, to date through a presidential directive with youths working under the supervision of National Youth Serviced (NYS) Officers.
