Setting up infrastructure fund for dams, roads and electricity
On 4 October 2025, President William Ruto announced plans to set up a National Infrastructure Fundto help build dams, roads, and electricity infrastructure across Kenya.
The fund is intended to provide a dedicated financing mechanism for large-scale infrastructure projects.
On 9th March 2026, President William Ruto signed the National Infrastructure Fund Bill into law, formally establishing the fund designed to mobilise over KSh 5 trillion in the next 10 years for large-scale infrastructure development projects.
Further, President William Ruto has appealed to the international community to invest in Kenya’s ambitious KSh5 trillion, 10-year national transformation programme.
In July 2026, the President stated that the fund has already mobilised KSh 350 billion from various sources. This financing mechanism will go towards addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges.
