All chiefs to receive digital tablets for electronic incident reporting within six months
On 2 December 2025, President William Ruto announced at State House, Nairobi, that all chiefs across the country will receive digital tablets within six months to enable electronic reporting of incidents.
The announcement was made while receiving the Jukwaa la Usalama report, which captured nationwide feedback on security and service delivery challenges from forums conducted across all 47 counties between April and October 2025. As part of the broader digital transformation agenda, the government would also digitise police records, National Government Administrative Officers’ (NGAO) records, National Police Reservists’ data, and the Occurrence Book (OB) system, aiming to strengthen institutional efficiency, transparency, and response times.
On 22nd April, records in the Senate Hansard confirmed that the plan to provide ICT equipment in all the police stations and also tablets to administrators, including chiefs, to make sure that they do their job better, was underway. However, the plan is yet to manifest since there is no public record of any chief, nationwide, receiving the promised tablets as of May 2026.
