20% of affordable housing units reserved for teachers

On 10 September 2025, President William Ruto announced that 20% of all affordable housing units countrywide would be reserved for teachers.

The promise was made as part of engagements with the teaching profession, linking the affordable housing programme to teacher welfare.
To formalize the arrangement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry and teachers’ representatives and the President.
