20% of affordable housing units reserved for teachers

On 10 September 2025, President William Ruto announced that 20% of all affordable housing units countrywide would be reserved for teachers.

  • The promise was made as part of engagements with the teaching profession, linking the affordable housing programme to teacher welfare.
  • To formalize the arrangement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry and teachers’ representatives and the President.
