Clean cooking technologies

The Kenya Kwanza manifesto included a promise to support the scaling up of clean cooking technologies.

Kenya has adopted the Kenya National Cooking Transition Strategy (KNCTS 2024-2028), intending to achieve universal access to clean cooking by 2028.
Clean cooking manufacturers (for example, BURN) have secured investment (around US$5 million) from ElectriFI to scale deployment of induction cookers to over 100,000 households.
Kenya will co-host the 2026 Clean Cooking Summit in Nairobi in July 2026 alongside Norway, the U.S., and the International Energy Agency to mobilize further international investment.
Despite these efforts, challenges remain, including a persistent financing gap and a high reliance on firewood and charcoal in rural areas
