Clean cooking technologies

The Kenya Kwanza manifesto included a promise to support the scaling up of clean cooking technologies.

  • Kenya has adopted the Kenya National Cooking Transition Strategy (KNCTS 2024-2028), intending to achieve universal access to clean cooking by 2028.
  • Clean cooking manufacturers (for example, BURN) have secured investment (around US$5 million) from ElectriFI to scale deployment of induction cookers to over 100,000 households.
  • Despite these advances, dependence on traditional biomass (firewood, charcoal) remaines high and financing gap persist.
