Waiver on licenses and fees for new PWDs businesses

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to encourage counties to waive licenses and fees for new businesses established by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

In December 2023, Kiambu Governor Wamatangi declared the exemption of business licence fees for PWDs. On February 15th, 2023, Kirinyaga County Governor Waiguru also announced business permit waivers for PWDs.
There is however no reported uniform application of the waivers across the rest of the 47 counties. It is also not clear whether these counties implemented the programmes with influence from the national government.
