Strengthening Konza Technopolis

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to strengthen the Konza Technopolis to bring together industry, academic institutions, and other innovators to co-invest in emerging technologies to create high-quality jobs that leverage artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies, and thus enhance our regional and global competitiveness.

The Technopolis Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 6 of 2024) was introduced to replace the previous 2023 version.
Unlike the original bill, which was specific to Konza, this new law established a Technopolis Development Authority to oversee the creation and management of multiple tech hubs across all 47 counties, not just Konza.
The National Assembly passed the bill on November 19, 2024, and it moved to the Senate, where it reached the Second Reading stage by July 2025.
In May 2026, the President signed the Technopolis Bill into law allowing for the creation of Technopolis Development Authority (TDA) to manage the creation, development, and management of Technopolises in Kenya.
