Promote youth-owned and operated briquette making enterprises
The Kenya Kwanza government promised to promote youth-owned and operated briquette-making enterprises in areas where agricultural waste is available in commercially viable quantities (coffee waste, rice husks, maize cobs, and coconut husks).
In March 2026, the government shifted from a ‘dedicated fund’ model to an integrated grant system (NYOTA) and industrial infrastructure (CAIPs). They reported that this was to ensure that youth-led briquette ventures have both the startup capital (KSh 50k grants) and the raw material aggregation points needed for commercial viability.
