Promote youth-owned and operated briquette making enterprises

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to promote youth-owned and operated briquetting enterprises in areas where agricultural waste is available in commercially viable quantities (coffee waste, rice husks, maize cobs, and coconut husks).

In 2025 the budget policy statement recommitted to prioritizing clean cooking and supporting youth-led briquette enterprises.
While there are several youth-led briquetting initiatives in Kenya, most of these are NGO and donor-funded programmes, not from a dedicated government financing vehicle.
