While a significant Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, was enacted, strengthening the rights of people with disabilities and restructuring the NCPWD, this new legislation did not address the merger of the two entities. Both NFDK and NCPWD continue to operate separately, with the government and relevant bodies seemingly prioritizing the implementation of the new, rights-focused Act and other disability inclusion strategies. The merger, therefore, appears to have been delayed or set aside due to institutional complexities, resource allocation priorities focused on the new act, and a lack of public information or action regarding its implementation.
