The Kenya Kwanza government made a promise to ensure that 5% of all market stalls are allocated to Persons with Disabilities.
On 8th of May 2025, President Ruto assented to the Persons with Disabilities Act. The Act, which was sponsored by Senator Crystal Asige, under section 84, mandates the National and County governments to reserve at least 5% of market stalls for PWDs.
While the legal framework is in place, practical implementation and enforcement are still lagging.
