Establishment of a benevolent fund for police and prison officers

• The Kenya Kwanza government promised to establish a contributory Benevolent Fund for families of fallen and terminally ill officers, including mental health illness.

On December 14, 2023: The then Interior Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Kindiki directed the relevant Ministry departments to urgently convene a core team to draw the framework. He later on also announced the formation of an endowment kitty for fallen soldiers. However, there hasn’t been an official update on the roll-out of the fund following the former Cabinet Secretary’s directive since.
