Kenya will be a visa free country

On 12th December 2023, the president of Kenya promised that, effective January 2024, Kenya would be a visa-free country.

On January 2nd, 2024, the Government of Kenya launched the electronic travel authorization system (eTA). All visitors (except exempt nationals) must obtain an eTA before travel.
Most African nationals (except from Libya and Somalia) can now enter Kenya without an eTA or visa and stay up to 60 days. However, the eTA costs USD 30, is applied for online, and is typically processed within 24–72 hours. This is a step forward in the right direction, but the ‘burden’ of applying for entry authorization and the requirement for advance permission to enter have not yet been completely lifted.
