Give Developers Incentives to build more affordable housing

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to give developers incentives to build more affordable housing.

  • As at May 2026, there is no evidence that the Kenya Kwanza Government has granted any incentives for developers to build more affordable housing. It is also worth noting that there was an attempt under the Finance Bill, 2024 to repeal the preferential corporate income tax rate of 15% for companies that have constructed at least 400 residential units annually.
  • Further, the Finance Act of 2025 removed significant tax incentives, resulting in increased costs associated with affordable housing projects.
