In-service Teacher Training initiated by GOK

The Kenya Kwanza government promised to pay for in-service teacher training initiated by Government.

In September 2025, the Kenya School of Teacher and Education Management (KeSTEM) was proposed as a central institution to coordinate in-service training and continuous professional development (CPD) for practising teachers, school leaders, education managers and education officers. The Presidential Working Party on Education Reform recommended that the Ministry of Education establish KeSTEM and develop a framework for its regional centres and for coordinating in-service programmes.
In August 2026, Parliament was considering the Pre-Service Education and In-Service Training Bill, 2026, which seeks to create a formal legal framework for the training and continuous professional development of teachers. The Bill is intended to provide clearer structures for coordinating and regulating in-service teacher training.
