The Kenya Kwanza Government promised to establish a one-year paid National Internship Programme for all students graduating from teachers, technical and medical colleges and universities, by collaborating with industry players.
Pilot internship programs were initiated in select sectors, including healthcare, technical institutions, and public service departments. Stipends were provided to a limited cohort of graduates, and industry collaborations began in a few pilot projects
While some sectors have established internship placements, a fully operational, nationwide one-year paid internship program for all graduates has not yet been implemented. Coordination with industry remains ad hoc, and funding constraints limit scale.
