Provide political will – Security sector reform is good for everyone and police reform efforts must not be wound back.
There has been implementation of a few reforms such as the requirements of the recruitment process to the KDF, marginal salary increase of police officers, removal of roadblocks and a proposed change of uniform.
As of January 2024, a couple of reforms to the security sector have been made. These include; merging of the Kenya Police and the Administration Police to create a unified National Police Service (NPS), granting financial independence to the police service which ensures the operational autonomy of the police service and reduces the potential for political interference in law enforcement activities.
