National annual sports extravaganza

The Kenya Kwanza government vowed to promote county leagues and inter-county sports championships that will culminate in a national annual sports extravaganza.

The Kenya youth inter-county sports event already took place in Tharaka Nithi County, from 23rd to 30th April, launched by CS Ababu Namwamba.
CS Namwamba also officially flagged off the Talanta Hela Initiative in December 2023, aiming to turn talent into a thriving industry in Sports and Creative Spaces.
While the national annual sports extravaganza hasn’t been formally branded as a single unified spectacle under that exact name, the continuity and scale of inter-county championships reflect ongoing implementation of the pledge.
The national government has also invested in sports infrastructure and talent development (e.g., county stadium upgrades, new facilities) to support grassroots and competitive sports.
