Input finance and intensive agricultural extension support

The Kenya Kwanza Government promised to transform two (2) million poor farmers from food deficit to surplus producers through input finance and intensive agricultural extension support, with a target to generate a minimum productivity target of Sh50,000 revenue per acre.

  • The Agricultural and Livestock Extension Services Bill (Senate Bills No. 12 of 2022) was tabled before the Senate in December 2022. The Bill is currently at the Committee Stage at the National Assembly.
  • The Kenya Kwanza Government also increased funding allocated to the Agricultural industry to 77.7 billion in 2025, a 3.8 billion increase from the previous fiscal year, to sustainably support the country’s agri-food systems.
  • Over 6.9 million farmers have been digitally registered as of 2025, through the KIAMIS system, providing essential data to distribute inputs based on land size and crop variety. This provides benefits to the farmers, such as a climate risk insurance program, in a bid to increase productivity.
