Deployment of skilled community health workers

The Kenya Kwanza Government promised to ensure deployment of adequate numbers of skilled community health workers on a regular stipend paid through a cost-sharing framework between the National Government and County Governments.

In September 2023, the Kenya Kwanza Government pledged Kenya Shillings Three Billion (KES. 3 Billion)in funding to support 100,000 community health promoters across the country.
The Kenya Kwanza Government is also in the process of enacting legislation for the recognition and remuneration of community health workers (the Community Health Promoters Bill, 2022) which was passed by the National Assembly in November 2024 and is currently being considered by Senate.
In December 2025, the 12th National and County Governments Coordinating Summit resolved to transition CHPs to permanent and pensionable employment terms.
