The Kenya Kwanza government committed to implementing the constitutional requirement of a financially independent police service commission.

The President, in his inaugural speech, ordered the shift of financial responsibility of the National Police Service from the Ministry of Interior and National coordination to the office of the Inspector General, making good on his promise to give the National Police Service financial independence.
