Facilitate accreditation and endorsement of Kenya’s qualifications and skills with those of foreign countries

The Kenya Kwanza Government promised to facilitate accreditation and endorsement of Kenya’s qualifications and skills with those of foreign countries for easy access to higher education and foreign jobs by Kenyans living in the diaspora.

  • Kenya National Qualifications Classification Standard (KNQCS), developed in late 2025 standardizes and codes qualifications based on the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) to ensure comparability across borders.
  • The KNQF (General) Regulations, 2025, gazetted in early 2026, aim to elevate Kenyan certificates beyond local borders, serving as a global passport to opportunities by aligning the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) with international benchmarks.
  • Educational institutions have started obtaining Qualification Awarding Body status from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority since the enactment of the regulations.
